Česká zbrojovka will supply the Czech Army with up to 39,000 small arms

Prague, April 21, 2020 – Česká zbrojovka will supply small arms and ammunition worth up to CZK 2.35 billion to the Czech Army. Today, the framework agreement was signed by Lubor Koudelka, Deputy Minister of Defense for Armaments and Acquisitions, and Ladislav Britaňák, CEO of Česká zbrojovka.

“Our goal is to modernize the Army, and also to support Czech industry and maintain jobs in these difficult times,”explained Minister of Defense Lubomír Metnar. “The concluded framework agreement will enable the acquisition of up to 39,000 small arms from our renowned manufacturer for our soldiers by 2025,” added Lubomír Metnar.

With the maximum fulfillment of the contract, the Army will receive in the following years more than 16 thousand assault rifles BREN 2, over 21 thousand pistols CZ P-10, over 1600 underslang grenade lauchers CZ 805 G1, almost 100 pieces of PDW CZ SCORPION and training ammunition. The purchase follows the contracts from 2010 to 2016, when almost 40 thousand small arms were purchased from Česká zbrojovka.

“The Army of the Czech Republic demands only the best equipment. This contract is an assurance for us that we are doing our job well and creating high-quality and innovative products that will succeed in the most demanding military and law enforcement markets. At the same time, it is a significant signal about the importance of investing in domestic defense industry, especially in the current difficult time, which fully demonstrates the need to ensure maximum security of supplies from Czech sources,” said Lubomír Kovařík, President of Česká zbrojovka Group.

We are honored to be able to carry out further deliveries for our Army, which has historically been one of the most important customers of Česká zbrojovka and also an important reference for us on the world markets. In addition, this contract will support employment, which I consider to be key in the current situation for both the company and the Czech economy,” added Ladislav Britaňák.

Česká zbrojovka based in Uherský Brod is a subsidiary of the Česká zbrojovka Group holding. It produces firearms for civilian use and armed forces around the world.
